The funds are part of an effort funded by a supplemental grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to expand the initiatives of the current REACH (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health) grant, administered by Healthy Savannah and the YMCA of coastal Georgia. The REACH grant also funds a community health promotion program in which community members receive training to provide information about the knowledge and acceptance of the vaccine in their own neighborhoods, which may be at greater risk of serious illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19 or the flu.
