The specialist will combine behavior control with any pharmacological agents needed to help you stop smoking. Patients will be asked a series of questions about what are the triggers for smoking and their motivation to quit smoking.
Patients are also tested to see if they qualify for any medication to help them stop smoking. Other methods are available if you prefer not to take medication. Personalized counseling usually lasts six to eight weeks, depending on insurance coverage. The Comprehensive Stop Smoking Program also offers group classes.

The partnership will provide a mobile health care unit that will visit schools in the area at designated times. The services date back to 1971, when Dr. Cooper organized a group of citizens from the west side of Savannah for the sole purpose of funding a primary health care center to care for underserved people.
